Crude brazing on tang to pommel joint. Identification is tentative based on quality of the manufacture and the general style of the piece, dimensions are similar to but not identical to the UK Yataghan |

|
Ashoka lion marked 1907, in the early 1960's the India police converted SMLE rifles to take the 7.62 cartridge and issued them with refurbished bayonets. The bayonets had the UK crown removed from them and the 4 headed Ashoka lion stamped in its place. All blades seem to be marked 1963 |
