Alex Coppel makers mark Very faint A in circle mark on right cross guard indicates Argentine usage "Alex Coppel Argentina also manufactured for a short model cadet, model 1871 with bayonet yataghan blade guard and handle like Chassepot here to view and leather scabbard with brass rim and toe, which were used in the rifle and Comblain therefore also works in the Remington. similar in hilt style to French 1866 and several other brass hilted bayonets
This has the un chamfered "Remington" hilt without the muzzle ring cut out of the1866. These blades are not common in full length as many were cut down for use with other weapons,

Looking like a Rumanian 1893 and other blades of that period the only marking is an RA on the pommel These Blades were supplied for GEW88 rifles before the adoption of the 1891, there were reportedly S71 brass hilt bayonets and a version of the 71/84 as seen here. Scabbard is original steel scabbard that has been shortened and the Locket brazed on the shorter steel body. This example has matching numbers |
