For sorting purposes I have chosen Bayonets with above 12" blades to be classed as "Sword"

Peabody bayonet, similar to the French 1874 Gras, but with longer hilt and without distinctive hilt hump. These blades were also made for Siam but have their markings on the blades as well. There are reports of these being used by the Pontifical Guards but these are as yet un substantiate
Original flat top to hilt, not machined as in the Irish cut down Gras blades
Ricasso stamp shows manufacture by Steyr in 1883, which is after the reported manufacture dates of the rifle and blade, but matches stamps found on the rifles
Cross guard serial number
Scabbard serial, unfortunately not matching

1874 Peabody Yataghan, converted to side arm status by removing the locking stud and replacing the leather grips with replacement wooden ones. The replacement grips can be plain or chequered
