ROMANIA
Peabody bayonet, similar to the French 1874 Gras, but with longer hilt and without distinctive hilt hump. These blades were also made for Siam but have their markings on the blades as well. There are reports of these being used by the Pontifical Guards but these are as yet un substantiate

Original flat top to hilt, not machined as in the Irish cut down Gras blades

Ricasso stamp shows manufacture by Steyr in 1883, which is after the reported manufacture dates of the rifle and blade, but matches stamps found on the rifles

Cross guard serial number

Scabbard serial, unfortunately not matching

RUSSIA

Winchester 1915, unfortunately the permanently attached frog is missing from this scabbard

added 17/11/2002

added 17/11/2002

The scabbard throat is attached with a rivet and not a screw as used on the French 1914, this blade has had a "blunt" false edge nearly 5" long, I have found no reference in any text to this modification
